Pelicans F Trey Murphy III (hamstring) to miss at least three weeks

An MRI taken on Thursday confirmed the injury, the Pelicans said. He will be re-examined in about three weeks. New Orleans opens its preseason schedule on Monday against the visiting Orlando Magic. The regular season begins Oct. 23 with a home game against the Chicago Bulls.
Murphy, 24, averaged 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists -- all career bests -- in 57 games (23 starts) last season.
He was selected 17th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, who dealt him about a week later to the Pelicans as part of a three-team trade. For his career, Murphy averages 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 198 games (89 starts) in three seasons with New Orleans.
